Growing Your Vision With Everyone’s #1 New Years Goal
As I speak and coach, one of my favorite things to do is show people how they can utilize their BOLD, Physical Identity to serve others powerfully and practically. True success will always be reaching a hand back to transfer a baton of clarity and provision to someone behind us. There is no greater feeling in the world then to know you have impacted and equipped someone to build success who is isolated and discouraged.
One of the most effective and practical ways to ensure you maintain your results is to invite other individuals to train or partner with you. The truth is, losing weight is one of the top three New Year’s resolutions, (finances and spending more time with family takes the other two), and knowing this one strategy can help you transfer this breakthrough and identity to your family, friends and alliances.
One powerful way to influence all three of these areas is to focus on raising money for local charities in your community by doing a walk-a-thon, walk/trot-a-thon or run for a cause that you feel passionate about. Are you an animal lover? Raise money for the Humane Society. Concerned about the homeless in your city? Call up your local non-profits and ask them if they need more support and partnership. I have yet to run across any non-profit leaders who don’t profusely thank me for investing in their vision.
One of the things I have experienced over and over again with this method is that not only will you solidify your own BOLD, Physical Identity, but you will align yourself to receive free publicity (the first team I launched opened the door for a cable TV interview), grow your business or non-profit through word of mouth testimonials, AND have a ridiculous amount of fun. There is a complete possibility that you will enjoy yourself so much, that you will forget that you are building a BIG, BOLD, Physical Identity!
Let’s review some of the first several internal and external steps you will take before you begin marketing:
1. Understand that your objective in committing to growing a BIG BOLD, Physical Identity was not just to lose weight and get in shape, but rather, to complete your race and then begin planning for the NEXT ONE. True, sustainable success will only come because you MODEL consistently and move to a point of reproducing.
2. Focus on staying on your schedule, finishing your mileage despite obstacles. Celebrate your small wins, eat healthy foods in small portions and make sure to enjoy building a lifestyle of fitness and fun.
3. Do not become discouraged or rejected if others do not share your same commitment to the schedule.
4. Finish what you start, which means running the race you trained for and then immediately beginning to plan for the next one. (The rule for the medal you win for your half-marathon is that it is acceptable to wear to the grocery store, the dry cleaners, work and church for one week after your race without being tacky.
